The USS Midway is a naval air craft carrier named after the Battle of Midway which took place in June 1942.

The aircraft carrier had dozens of fighter jets and helicopters on the hanger level and flight deck. Here are some of the awesome features of the planes:

  • Fold-up-wings so you can fit more planes on deck.
  • Bombs, missiles and guns.
  • Nozzle for refuelling in mid-air from a special tanker plane.
  • Pilots can lower a hook which catches a wire on the deck called a trap. The wire slows the plane down so they don’t fall off the edge of the short runway.

This is me flying a fighter jet. I really liked all of the controls such as:

  1. Buttons
  2. Switches
  3. Handles
  4. Dials
  5. Screens for information.

On a ship they have a jail called a brig. You would be sent to the brig if you didn’t follow orders. Me and daddy got locked up for wasting the food rations on board!

Vasa museum

Sorry I haven’t done a post in a while. The reason I haven’t done a post is because I’ve done a lot of traveling. I’m now in Stockholm in Sweden.

So now let’s get on with the post…

Today I went to the Vasa museum. The Vasa is an almost 400 year old ship that sank in the 17th century. It is famous because it was brought up to the surface in one piece 333 years later. It is in almost the same condition now as back then. It’s first voyage only lasted 20 minutes before it sank.

Today the boat looks like wood but originally it was colourful. They ground up plants and minerals to make paint to decorate the boat.
